About Sarah

Family of four

My family from Left to Right: Me, my dad Jeff, my mom Sue, and my sister Emily.

I grew up on a farm in western Wisconsin, the daughter of a small business owner and public school teacher. I saw the value of public service from a young age from both of my parents. My mom served as the building rep for her WEAC union while my dad pursued local elected office. He served as Chair for our rural township, then in the State Assembly, and currently serves in the State Senate.

I proudly marched at the Bans of Our Bodies demonstration in 2021 in support of abortion rights.

I moved to Madison to attend UW-Madison where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and then a Master’s degree in Educational Policy.

Like many UW grads, I first went on to work at Epic. In 2018, I sought opportunities to serve others and left Epic to work on campaign of State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski. Since then, I have held positions as Treasurer Godlewski’s Chief of Staff and as the Communications Director for Senator Patty Schachtner. For the past three years, I have been serving as the Director of Public Affairs for the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance.

In addition to serving on the Dane County Board since 2020, I have also been a member on the Sustainability Committee for the city of Monona for the past six years.
